Responsibilities

• Build rapport with clients by gathering information and listening to/empathizing with their concerns.
• Communicate with clients on topics such as pet diagnosis, treatment plans, preventive health care, and nutritional needs.
• Examine animals to detect and determine the nature of diseases or injuries.
• Treat sick or injured animals by prescribing medication, setting bones, dressing wounds, performing surgery, or other therapies while minimizing patient stress and discomfort.
• Participate in outpatient case care, emergency case triage, and monitoring hospitalized ER and specialty patients overnight.
• Triage multiple patients at once, focus on client education, perform emergency procedures and surgery, and interpret diagnostic imaging and laboratory results.
• Maintain client/patient medical/surgical records and make certain all necessary logs are kept up to date through established protocols.
• Stay current on new medical information and changes in veterinary medicine.
• Assist in the development of the paraprofessional team to ensure delivery of the highest quality care and exceptional client service.
• Present a positive image of the hospital in the professional community and to the public.

Requirements

• Employer will accept a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree.
• Position requires medical equipment: SPO2, Oscillometric/Doppler BP, ECG, Capnography, Tonometry, and interpreting findings using a refractometer.
• Position requires surgical techniques: Laceration repair, wound management, bandaging, trocharization, and centeses (thoraco-, abdomino-, pericardio-).
• Must be eligible for state licensure.

Pay

$123,802 to $150,000 per year
