Apply Job Type Full-time Description Job Summary: The ED manager oversees the daily operations of the emergency department to ensure high-quality patient care, efficient workflow, regulatory compliance, and staff performance. This role manages clinical and administrative functions, supports patient safety initiatives, and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to optimize emergency services. Essential Duties And Responsbilities Supports, role models and promotes an environment conducive with the mission, vision, and values of the hospital and in accordance with the service excellence standards of behavior.Demonstrates highly ethical conduct and moral behavior in personal and professional action and communication, consistent with the goals and objectives of Hillsboro Health. Maintain confidentiality of all patients, hospital, or physician related information.Manage day-to-day operations of the emergency department.Monitor patient flow, triage, efficiency, and throughput metrics.Maintain compliance with hospital policies and emergency care standards. Support quality improvement and patient safety initiatives. Supervise nursing and support staff.Coordinate staffing schedules and productivity.Conduct performance evaluations and coaching.Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and retention of staff.Promote teamwork and professional development.Ensures that the hospital Compliance Plan and all governmental rules and regulations are followed.Is knowledgeable of general hospital and department specific policies and procedures and assist with their review and updates.Uses budgets and forecasts to improve financial performance.Makes recommendations for and actively participates in the operating and capital budget. Establishes and communicates clear expectations.Evaluates unit staff for competency on an ongoing basis and educates and evaluates new staff performance. Participates in committees, and special projects. Monitors Patient Satisfaction Survey results and implements plans to meet patient-satisfaction goals.Creates developmental opportunities so that others can grow.Anticipates future trends and consequences.Utilizes critical thinking processes to resolve issues in accordance with hospital philosophy.Participates in accreditation preparation audits.Monitor incident reports and implement corrective action.Collaborate with providers, hospital leadership, EMS, and ancillary departments.Address patient and family concerns professionally. Supports peers and those in managerial roles by “managing up” in conversations with staff.Build relationships and teams for the achievement of goals.Other duties may be assigned and are subject to change with or without prior notice. Professional Requirements Better than average human relations and organizational skills.Ability to work under pressure with tight time constraints.Strong decision making, communication and conflict resolution skills. Ability to stay calm and effective in high pressure situations.Completes and maintains all required education and/or training requirements.Complies with HIPAA regulations and always maintains patient confidentiality.Follows and maintains all lawful safety, health requirements, and regulations, and follow protocols for required protective equipment (PPE).Promptly reports safety issues, job-related injury, or illness, near misses, etc. in SafetyZone.Follows Hillsboro Health Standards of Behavior. Requirements Education and/or Experience: Associate’s degree in nursing required.Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.Three to five years of emergency experience required.Ability to pass specific competencies for this position. Certificates And Licenses Current and active Illinois RN licenseBasic Life Support (BLS) required or willing to obtain within 30 days of hire.Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required or willing to obtain within 90 days of hire.Pediatric Life Support (PALS) required or willing to obtain within 90 days of hire.Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) required or willing to obtain within 6 months. CORPORATE COMPLIANCE Receives training and/or attends necessary meetings to meet the criteria as outlined in Hillsboro Health’s Corporate Compliance Plan and Code of Conduct. Understands the responsibilities related to compliance and knows whether to contact the Corporate Compliance Officer should there be any instance of question or concern regarding fraud and/or abuse. Salary Description $103,405.00 - $129,257.00 annually
