Emergency Service Head Veterinarian
About the role
The Emergency Service Head Veterinarian (ERSH) at BluePearl Pet Hospital in Cary, NC, works alongside the ER Clinicians, Specialists, and Leadership Team to ensure the highest quality medicine and services for pets and the community. This role is responsible for managing the ER Clinician team, overseeing scheduling, hiring, training, mentoring, and facilitating regular ER meetings. The incumbent also works during various shifts to support the team and collaborates with the Medical Director to maintain high standards of patient care.
Responsibilities
- Manage the ER Clinician team, including scheduling, hiring, training, and mentoring.
- Facilitate regular ER meetings and represent the ER team as a hospital leader.
- Collaborate with the Medical Director to ensure the highest level of patient care.
- Work during a variety of shifts to support the team.
Requirements
- DVM from an accredited university required.
- Successful completion of rotating internship or BluePearl's EmERge program required.
- 2+ years of clinical experience required.
- Valid applicable DVM licensure required.
- Demonstrated capacity to multitask and successfully manage competing priorities required.
- Prior shift lead experience preferred.
- Strong leadership ability with excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated stress tolerance and attention to detail.
- Strong ability to mentor and train less experienced Clinicians and Interns.
Qualifications
- Must possess valid applicable DVM licensure.
- Must have 2+ years of clinical experience.
- Must have completed a rotating internship or BluePearl's EmERge program.
- Must demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills.
- Must be able to multitask and manage competing priorities.
- Must have prior shift lead experience (preferred).
