Emergency Room (RN) (Full Time) (Mid Shift or Nights)
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in a fast-paced emergency department environment at Missouri Baptist Sullivan Hospital, a designated critical access hospital serving Crawford, Franklin, and Washington counties. Our state-of-the-art facility includes a 16-bed Emergency Department with an average patient volume of 45-50 patients per day and nurse-to-patient ratios of 4:1 or 3:1.
The Emergency Department operates 24/7 with experienced emergency physicians, nurse practitioners, or physician assistants for non-urgent cases. All staff are trained in trauma care, advanced cardiac life support, pediatric advanced life support, and 12-lead EKG interpretation for stroke and cardiac patients. Our team includes nurses with over 30 years of emergency care experience and paramedics. We utilize advanced technology, including a 64-slice CT machine, and have our own ambulance service with a paramedic on each unit, as well as access to helicopter transportation for higher-level care.
Responsibilities
- Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation within the guidelines of nursing care standards.
- Promotes patient and family-centered care in a healing environment.
- Educates patients and families on managing illness or injury, post-treatment home care, and medication administration.
- Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
- Engages in professional development.
- Develops, implements, and documents individualized plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with the interprofessional team, patient, and family.
- Ensures communication of the care plan across the continuum of care.
- Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to care standards.
- Assesses patient preferences, barriers to care, and values, including emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population-specific needs.
This is a safety-sensitive position requiring the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
Requirements
- Minimum of one year of Emergency Department nursing experience.
- Current RN licensure.
- Specialized training in trauma care, advanced cardiac life support (ACLS), pediatric advanced life support (PALS), and 12-lead EKG interpretation.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Nursing Diploma or Associate's Degree in Nursing.
- No prior supervisory experience required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
Schedule
- Full-time Mid Shift (11:00 AM to 12:30 AM) or Nights.
- Three 12-hour shifts per week.
Pay
- Shift differential.
- BSN differential.
