Southern Regional is certified as a Chest Pain Center and Primary Stroke Center.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Provide direct patient care within the scope of practice in the Telemetry and Emergency Department.
  • Direct and guide patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing care.
  • Communicate with physicians about changes in patient clinical condition, including diagnostic study results and symptomatology.
  • Respond quickly and accurately to changes in patient condition and/or response to treatment.
  • Adhere to EMTALA regulations and report child/adult abuse to appropriate agencies and Hospital Social Worker.
  • Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.

Requirements

  • Current and valid state RN License.
  • Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
  • Current ACLS certificate within 30 days of hire and maintain current.
  • Current PALS certificate and/or ENPC within 30 days of hire and maintain current.
  • Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire.
  • Minimum of one year of experience as a staff nurse RN in an acute care hospital setting; E.R. setting preferred.
  • Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Facility-Specific Requirements

  • In Paramedic Base Station ED: MICN certification within 12 months of hire and maintain current.
  • EDAP certified facilities: Completion of emergency pediatric course 1 and 2 within 6 months of hire.
  • Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) within 12 months of hire required.

Schedule

Part-time (less than 60 hours per pay period), night shift.
