About the role

This position involves teaching a professional graduate course in the field of Health Administration, focusing on strategic planning and management within health services organizations.

Responsibilities

• Course instructor for a professional graduate course using competency-based learning and assessment methods.
• Accessible to students outside of classroom hours, available evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• A Doctorate or Master’s level education with extensive experience in organizational strategy, preferably in a health care setting.
• A robust understanding of organizational design, risk management, change leadership, and performance measurement.
• Past teaching experience related to healthcare strategy, preferably at the graduate level.
• Prior experience in curriculum development and adult teaching-learning methods.
• Comfortable with electronic teaching tools such as Learning Management Systems (e.g., Quercus), PowerPoint, as well as on-line collaboration tools (Blogs, Wikis, Discussion Boards, Webinars, or Video-conferencing).

• Differentiate between the various motivations for developing a strategic plan.
• Distinguish among alternative contemporary conceptualizations of strategy.
• Identify and relate critical steps in the strategic planning process.
• Anticipate and mitigate common barriers to strategy implementation and leverage facilitators.
• Critically analyze the fit between organizational design and strategy.
• Explain and integrate the essential elements of successful organizational strategies into your organization’s strategic plan.
• Acknowledge, value and capitalize upon the different perspectives of executive, management and front-line workers during strategic planning processes.
• Analyze the structure and processes of governance in health care organizations.
• Devise a viable strategic plan based upon knowledge of the strategic planning process and critical elements.
• Critically evaluate the merits and feasibility of strategic plans using an array of contemporary evaluation tools.

Benefits

Salary ranges from $9,997.47 - Sessional Lecturer I to $11,228.90 - Sessional Lecturer III - Long Term, depending on qualifications and experience.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $9,997.47 - Sessional Lecturer I to $11,228.90 - Sessional Lecturer III - Long Term, subject to collective agreement terms.

Schedule

The sessional dates of appointment are Fall 2026, September to December.
