Emergency posting for a sessional lecturer position in the Department of Slavic Languages & Literatures at the St. George (Downtown Toronto) campus.
About the role
Teach SLA206H1F - Intermediate Polish I, a course for students who have completed SLA106H1 and SLA116H1 or have comparable basic knowledge of Polish. The course further develops speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills, revising and consolidating prior knowledge. Upon completion, students will communicate in more advanced everyday situations and have substantial familiarity with Polish grammar.
Estimated course enrolment: 25. No TA support is provided.
Class schedule: Monday 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM and Wednesday 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM. Delivery method is currently in-person, but may shift to remote/online or a combination of methods as determined by the Faculty or Department.
Sessional dates of appointment: September 1, 2026 – December 31, 2026.
Responsibilities
- Prepare for and teach classes for SLA206H1F, Intermediate Polish I.
- Design, administer, and grade assignments.
- Provide students with adequate feedback.
Qualifications
- Minimum: M.A. degree in Slavic Languages and Cultures; Ph.D. preferred.
- Native or near-native fluency in spoken and written Polish.
- Near-native fluency in English.
- Prior Polish language teaching experience, particularly at the University of Toronto, is desirable.
Pay
- Sessional Lecturer I: $9,997.48
- Sessional Lecturer I Long Term: $10,699.22
- Sessional Lecturer II: $10,699.22
- Sessional Lecturer II Long Term: $10,953.96
- Sessional Lecturer III: $10,953.96
- Sessional Lecturer III Long Term: $11,228.90
Should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates in the collective agreement shall prevail.
