Emergency Planning Coordinator - Grant Funded - Health & Human Services - Public Health Emergency Preparedness & Response

About the role

Develops public health emergency plans with a focus on countywide distribution of supplies, assets, and Strategic National Stockpile (SNS) medication during public health emergencies. Participates in planning programs, policies, and objectives for the HHS Preparedness division and overall department readiness. Acts as the HHS representative at the Fort Bend County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and Department Operations Center (DOC) during recovery and operations.

Responsibilities

• Develop emergency response plans and coordinate logistical distribution of mass prophylaxis (SNS) to residents in anticipation of exposure to biological, chemical, or other agents.
• Plan and coordinate training exercises to mobilize assets for prophylactic measures following a public health emergency involving SNS and CHEMPACK assets management.
• Coordinate Fort Bend County’s planning and activities with regional, state, and national agencies and partners.
• Provide training and education for local response partners regarding medication distribution plans.
• Execute and evaluate emergency plans through participation in local and/or state-sponsored drills.
• Work with the Fort Bend County Homeland Security and Emergency Management Office and the HHS Medical Reserve Corps Coordinator to ensure adequate staffing of distribution sites and related activities.
• Participate in public health and emergency event activities and deployments during a local state of disaster as directed by HHS leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field such as health care, emergency response, public health, or community emergency planning.
• 3 years of job-related work experience.
• Excellent computer, verbal, and written communication skills; strong project management and organizational abilities.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with the public, other employees, and elected officials.
• Valid Driver License.

Pay

Starting salary range: $28.80 - $36.00 hourly based on qualifications.
