Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) / EMT-Paramedic

About the role

Empowering. BAE Systems is hiring for an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) / EMT-Paramedic to support at its San Diego Ship Repair site.

Responsibilities

• Promote worker safety
• Aid in managing injuries and illnesses
• Help return workers to their duties in a respectful and efficient manner within your professional scope of care
• Reporting into the Medical Department Lead/Supervisor, champion healthy work conditions in support of efforts to reduce or eliminate health hazards for employees
• Aid in the administration of the company’s Occupational Health and Safety program, and policy and procedures ensuring compliance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations set by Federal OSHA and other agencies including the Department of Labor, Department of Transportation, Coast Guard, State agencies, and various customer requirements

Requirements

• Typically requires a High School Diploma (or the equivalent) plus a current EMT certification along with 2 years experience in a related role such as an EMT, EMT-P, Nurse, etc.
• Experience working in an Emergency Room, Trauma, or related EMS environment
• Flexibility required to support varying shifts as needed (1st, 2nd, 3rd, weekends, holidays)
• Able to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Biometric Identification System badge
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
• Computer skills to effectively work with Microsoft Office and industry-related software applications
• Able to work independently, take initiative, make improvements to the function, and drive Safety and Health excellence and performance
• Versed in Federal OSHA and local codes
• Able to maintain a professional attitude and defuse unsettled situations to create a safety and health culture for employees
• Must have an overall occupational health background with emphasis in heavy industrial settings

Preferred

• Two (2) years recent EMS / Trauma experience
• Experience working in a shipyard environment helpful

Pay

Full-Time Salary Range: $47488 - $75980
