Emergency Department Technician - Emergency Room
About the role
The Emergency Room department at Wilcox Medical Center is Kaua‘i's only Level III Emergency Room. It is staffed by 20 patient rooms and treats an average of 60 patients per day during the week and approximately 70 to 80 patients on weekends. The department provides care to many visitors, in addition to addiction treatment and patients with chronic illnesses.
Responsibilities
- Support and care for patients under the direct clinical supervision of licensed professionals
- Monitor and document vital signs and patient flow
- Collaborate with others in a team-oriented atmosphere
- Provide quality patient care in a high-intensity setting
- Communicate effectively with patients and colleagues
- Ensure the Emergency Room is able to provide quality, effective intervention for patients with critical health conditions
Requirements
- High school or equivalent
- Completion of nursing degree, critical care technician or EMT program
- Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification
- Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR card
- One (1) year clinical or emergency experience
Qualifications
- Two (2) years emergency experience with pediatric patients preferred
