Emergency Department Technician
About the role
We're seeking a dedicated Emergency Department Tech to join our team and provide essential support in a fast-paced healthcare setting. Key responsibilities include:
Responsibilities
- Adheres to policies and procedures
- Performs equipment checks and reports broken equipment
- Provides constant observation and participates in hourly patient rounding
- Responds to patient call lights promptly
- Obtains and records accurate vital signs, including temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure
- Applies cardiac and respiratory monitoring leads as directed
- Performs 12-Lead EKG and obtains rhythm strips
- Collects urine, blood, stool, and nasal specimens for analysis and culture
- Applies orthopedic devices
- Aids patient transfers and monitors intake and output
- Uses patient care equipment and transport equipment appropriately
- Maintains unit supplies and operates pneumatic tube system
- Communicates with patients, families, and colleagues effectively
- Coordinates patient movement and documents care accurately
Requirements
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Previous emergency department, nursing school, EMT, or equivalent experience is preferred. Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential.
Qualifications
Requires American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within one month of hire.
