Position Summary

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Provides routine patient care services such as call light response; ambulating, transferring, and positioning; personal hygiene assistance.
  • Collections, records, and reports various patient data.
  • Obtains vital signs, blood glucose levels, bedside pregnancy testing, and reports changes in patient data to registered nurse.
  • Performs foley catheterization for both male and female patients, uses bladder scanner for patients to estimate bladder contents.
  • Ambulates, transfers, and positions patients; personal hygiene assistance; collects and reports patient data; performs foley catheterization; obtains vital signs; administers enemas; collects and transports specimens; documents; performs orthopedic procedures; obtains paperwork; performs electrocardiogram; places patient on cardiac monitor; performs general unit support activities; sets up suture trays, instruments, and other equipment; participates in emergencies; performs CPR, spiking IVs, slaving monitors; sets up for pacing/defibrillation and assists with intubation, suction, and airway management.

Required

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Recent patient care experience in acute care setting as nursing assistant, EMT, completion of a clinical rotation in an accredited nursing program, or completion of the US Armed Services medic program.
  • BLS certification as Healthcare Provider or equivalent through the Military Training Network (MTN).

Preferred

  • Emergency Department experience.
