About the role
The ECC Greeter is responsible and accountable for a variety of supportive tasks, providing assistance with patients and visitors under the direction of the Registered Nurse. The role demonstrates excellent customer service performance consistent with the standards contained in the Vision, Mission and Values of Covenant HealthCare and the commitment to Extraordinary Care for Every Generation.
Responsibilities
- Models Covenant’s Mission, Vision and Values of keeping the commitment to Extraordinary Care for Every Generation.
- Reiterates the Covenant HealthCare Values: We Care (Working together, Excellence, Customer service, Accountability, Respect, and Enthusiasm).
- Has social contact with patients and treats them according to guidelines defined by Covenant HealthCare.
- Assists with the needs of patients and visitors under the direction of the RN.
- Greets patients, families, and visitors upon arrival to the Emergency Care Center.
- Assists with simple procedures and follows standard precautions.
- Assists with collecting data regarding presenting complaints.
- Assists registered nurse with providing refreshments to patients and visitors.
- Performs safety measures to prevent falls.
- Ambulates, transports, and positions patients with proper body mechanics, using special equipment as necessary.
- Provides diversion activities, comforts, and supports patients and their family.
- Assists the patient and family in learning about the Emergency Care Center and the method of prioritization used when serving patients.
- Maintains a clean and orderly ECC Lobby environment.
- Removes, labels, and reports any malfunctioning equipment.
- Remains flexible in cooperation with 24-hour staffing patterns and scheduling needs for provision of care in all inpatient units.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School diploma required.
- BLS Heartsaver certification required.
- Attends unit conferences, required competencies, in-service programs, annual mandatory education, competencies, and continuing education activities to meet organizational expectations.
- One year of experience in data entry and computer information retrieval preferred.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands
- Ability to maintain punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
- Constant standing and walking.
- Frequent pushing, pulling, twisting, reaching, handling, feeling, talking, hearing, near vision, midrange vision, far vision, depth perception, visual accommodation, color vision, and field of vision.
- Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
- Occasional sitting, lifting, carrying, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and squatting.
