ELL Testing Specialist

Essential Functions

• Counsels students on standardized language acquisition assessment for listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.
• Assists teachers by providing materials and handouts to students, working with them individually or in groups on special projects or assignments.
• Maintains a testing log for record keeping and data on the administration and scoring of the assessments.
• Pre-scores and records proficiency tests using the scoring rubrics.
• Submits pre-score reports and test booklets to certified staff for review and dissemination.
• Coordinates testing schedule and materials with the Program Instructional Coach.
• Prepares room for testing, including setting up tables and chairs, and handing out materials.
• Performs cleanup after testing.
• Aids in lesson planning by sharing ideas and providing feedback about the students with whom they work.
• Ensures compliance of State and Federal laws for English Learners including file audits, testing, and small groups.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (G.E.D.).
• Proficiently fluent in English language.

Preferred Qualifications

• One year of experience working with children.
• Valid first aide certification.

Physical Requirements

• Occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and outdoor weather conditions.
• Occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 10 pounds.
• Close vision, Distance vision, Peripheral vision, Depth perception, and Ability to adjust focus.
