ELL Testing Specialist (2 Vacancies)

About the role

Under direct supervision, incumbent(s) conduct the standardized language acquisition assessment for listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills with students. Incumbent(s) provide assistance to teachers in a classroom environment by providing materials and handouts to students, working with students individually or in groups on special projects or assignments.

Responsibilities

• Counsults with teachers to plan and coordinate lesson plans by sharing ideas and providing feedback about the students with whom they work.
• Assists teachers in planning and coordinating lesson plans by sharing ideas and providing feedback about the students with whom they work.
• Coordinates testing schedule and materials with the Program Instructional Coach.
• Pre-scores and records proficiency tests using the scoring rubrics.
• Maintains a testing log for record keeping and data on the administration and scoring of the assessments.
• Reads assessment prompts and records student verbal responses.
• Submits pre-score reports and test booklets to certified staff for review and dissemination.
• Works with students individually or in groups on special projects or assignments including reading and mathematics, language development and memorization of emergency information.
• Demonstrates skills and techniques in order to aid in student learning.
• Ensures compliance of State and Federal laws for English Learners including file audits, testing, and small groups.

Requirements

• High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (G.E.D.)
• Proficiently fluent in English language
• One year of experience working with children
• Valid first aide certification

Physical Requirements

• Regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts
• Occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts
• Frequently lifts and/or moves up to 10 pounds

Salary

$16 to $19.20 Per Hour
