ELL Testing Specialist
About the role
Under direct supervision, incumbent(s) conducts the standardized language acquisition assessment for listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills with students. Incumbent(s) provides assistance to teachers in a classroom environment by providing materials and handouts to students, working with students individually or in groups on special projects or assignments.
Responsibilities
- Counsels students on academic progress and behavior
- Works with students individually or in groups on special projects or assignments including reading and mathematics, language development and memorization of emergency information
- Demonstrates skills and techniques in order to aid in student learning
- Coordinates testing schedule and materials with the Program Instructional Coach
- Prepares room for testing, including setting up tables and chairs, and handing out materials
- Performs cleanup after testing
- Aids teachers in planning and coordinating lesson plans by sharing ideas and providing feedback about the students with whom they work
- Ensures compliance of State and Federal laws for English Learners including file audits, testing, and small groups
Requirements
- High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (G.E.D.)
- Proficiently fluent in English language
- Obtain and maintain a valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card (AZ IVP FPCC)
Preferred Qualifications
- One year of experience working with children
- Valid first aide certification

- Occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and outdoor weather conditions
