Elementary Special Education Teacher, Marcia Buker Elementary
The Richmond School Department is seeking to hire an Elementary Special Education Teacher for the 2026/2027 school year.
About the role
Based on applicant qualifications and existing school staffing, the department will hire for one of the following roles:
- Full Time Elementary Special Teacher K-5
- Collaborate with related service providers and support staff
- Case load management typically 4-8 students
- Ideal for a certified special educator with experience in life skills, behavior supports, and individualized programming
- Full Time Special Education PreK Teacher
- Offer a structured program focusing on motor skills, interactive play skills, and academic readiness skills
- Work with parents, therapists, and support staff to provide learning opportunities for young children
- Possess an Early Childhood Special Education endorsement (081) and familiarity with the Pre-K for Me curriculum preferred
Qualifications
Candidates must hold a Maine Department of Education Professional Teaching certificate with Endorsement 282 or be eligible for Endorsement 282. Preference will be given to candidates with an Early Childhood Special Education endorsement (081).
Salary
In accordance with the 2026-2027 wage scale of the teacher collective bargaining agreement.
