About the role

Marcia Buker Elementary School is seeking a caring, dependable, and enthusiastic PreK Educational Technician for their special education PreK program. The Ed Tech will work under the direction of the classroom teacher to support young learners in developing academic, behavioral, and life skills in a safe, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate PreK environment that follows the PreK for ME curriculum.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one support for students with autism or other significant needs.
  • Aid students with social, emotional, and behavioral needs using positive guidance techniques.
  • Supervise students in the classroom, playground, cafeteria, and during transitions.
  • Assist with self-care and other personal needs, as appropriate.
  • Communicate positively, professionally, and collaboratively with students, staff, and families.
  • Follow safety procedures, classroom rules, and school protocols.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required; Ed Tech II or III certification is preferred (or willingness to obtain).
  • Experience working with young children with developmental disabilities is preferred.
  • Patience, flexibility, and a supportive, team-oriented approach are essential.
  • Basic technology skills (e.g., tablets, interactive whiteboards) are a plus.
  • The ability to follow teacher direction and contribute to a highly collaborative classroom and school environment is important.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Comfortable sitting on the floor, kneeling, and moving quickly to support young children.

Salary & Benefits

Compensation is based on experience and the applicable contract or district pay scale. Benefits are available for eligible employees.
