About the role

Mill Stream Elementary School is seeking a Special Education Teacher to join their team. The ideal candidate is passionate about supporting students with diverse learning needs while collaborating with colleagues and supervising a team of educational technicians.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students
  • Maintain accurate and compliant special education documentation and paperwork
  • Provide specialized instruction aligned with student IEP goals
  • Supervise and support a team of educational technicians, ensuring coordinated and effective student support
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to support inclusive practices and student access to the curriculum
  • Monitor student progress and adjust supports as needed
  • Communicate regularly with families and members of the student support team
  • Participate in IEP meetings, case management, and district collaboration

Requirements

  • Experience with Section 28 and Section 65 billing procedures
  • Experience coordinating and implementing special education services across middle and high school settings
  • Experience supervising and coaching educational technicians
  • Experience and knowledge in implementing post-secondary transition curriculum to prepare students with special needs for life after high school is preferred

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with Section 28 and Section 65 billing procedures

Qualifications

  • Maine 282 Special Education Certification (or eligibility)
  • Experience with special education case management and compliance
