About the Role

This is a full-year, 1.0 FTE stipend position with a stipend of $2000.

All District 191 schools use the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) system to assess, analyze, and support student behavioral needs. Outcomes from a fully implemented PBIS school system include:

  • Improved academic performance
  • Reduced bullying behaviors
  • Improved social-emotional competence
  • Improved social and academic outcomes for students with disabilities
  • Decreased rates of student-reported drug and alcohol abuse
  • Reduced office discipline referrals and exclusionary practices

Schools that implement PBIS have teaching and learning environments that:

  • Are more engaging, responsive, preventative, and productive
  • Address classroom management and discipline issues (e.g., attendance, antisocial behavior)
  • Improve supports for students
  • Maximize academic engagement and achievement for all students

  • PBIS Leadership Team
  • Data and Decision-Making System
  • Bully Prevention System
  • Family Engagement System
  • Classroom Management System
  • School-Wide Behavior Expectations System
  • School-Wide System to Acknowledge Positive Behavior
  • School-Wide System to Respond to Problem Behavior

Responsibilities

  • Assists the team's implementation of the elements of PBIS
  • Keeps the team on course and assesses fidelity
  • Develop monthly PBIS team agenda
  • Facilitate monthly PBIS team meetings
  • Plan and coordinate PBIS staff training
  • Ensure building PBIS signage is posted and in good condition
  • Announce and follow through with student celebrations (e.g., Student of the Month, building celebrations)
  • Announce and follow through with staff celebrations (e.g., Staff of the Month, staff trophies, breakfast, etc.)
  • Collect, organize, analyze, and present ODR/Top 5 data/TFI/SAS

Qualifications

  • MN Teaching license
  • Knowledge of and experience with PBIS
  • Knowledge of State, Federal, and ISD 191 School Board Policies regarding student conduct and appropriate disciplinary action
  • Evidence of and ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills when working with coworkers, parents, community members, supervisor, and students
  • Ability to receive feedback and adjust accordingly
  • Strong work ethic and dedication to further the benefits of student participation in co-curricular activities
  • Ability to perform essential job functions
