Electronics Technician

Emprise Corporation is seeking an entry-level Electronics Technician to join our marine engineering and software support team in Ledyard, Connecticut. The successful candidate will support and maintain specialized test equipment used for Preventive Maintenance, Condition Monitoring (Vibration, Oil, Diesel Engine, and Thermography), Inspection, Log Keeping, Maintenance Planning, and Life Cycle Engineering services for government and commercial clients.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with customers and coordinate shipping of electronic equipment to and from.
• Perform equipment functionality tests and/or calibration methodically and in accordance with documented procedures.
• Conduct functional acceptance testing of newly assembled equipment following documented procedures.
• Perform final assembly of electronic devices from subcomponents, including soldering and cable fabrication.
• Diagnose errors and technical problems in equipment being evaluated/calibrated, determine proper solutions, and take corrective action.
• Troubleshoot and resolve customer trouble calls.
• Address data synchronization issues between data collectors and Windows-based computer software (drivers, etc.) or tablet interfaces.
• Monitor inbound and outbound equipment calibration due dates and return schedules.
• Perform basic oil analysis diagnostics, including baseline testing.

Requirements

• Solid written communication skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office products.
• 2 or more years of work experience in a customer-facing technical service position; or electronics training equivalent to two years of technical trade school, an AA in electronics, or military technical school.
• Able to function both independently and within a team environment.
• Highly self-motivated with the ability to set and meet goals/deadlines with minimal supervision.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with troubleshooting procedures/methods.
• Ability to follow written technical procedures.
• Solid knowledge of MS Windows operating system software.
• Familiarity with a programming/scripting language.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOD Security Clearance.

Physical Requirements

• Work within a manufacturing environment, including moderate noise and chemical odors.
• Move between sitting, standing, and walking.
• Perform microscopic and visual inspection at a seated inspection bench/station.
• Manual dexterity to effectively use hand tools while performing assembly tasks.
• Lift up to 40 pounds periodically throughout the day.
• Specific vision abilities required, including close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus (with correction if needed) to perform hand soldering and wiring of assemblies.
• Occasional travel for training may be required.
