About the role
Magellan Aerospace, New York is seeking a highly skilled Electronic Technician to support and maintain the electronic and control systems used in our precision manufacturing operations. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring production equipment reliability, safety, and efficiency through troubleshooting, repair, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial electronic systems, including CNC machines, PLC systems, Servo drives, VFDs, motion control systems, HMI systems, and industrial networks.
- Perform electrical diagnostics on manufacturing equipment, automation systems, and facility infrastructure.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Conduct preventive and predictive maintenance on electronic systems to minimize downtime.
- Support equipment installations, upgrades, and commissioning.
- Work closely with maintenance, engineering, production, and quality teams to resolve equipment issues and improve performance.
- Document maintenance activities and update equipment records.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
- Assist in continuous improvement projects to enhance equipment reliability and manufacturing efficiency.
- Respond to urgent maintenance calls and support off-shift troubleshooting when required.
Requirements
- Associate’s Degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience as an Electronic Technician in a manufacturing environment (CNC / aerospace preferred).
- Strong knowledge of industrial automation and controls, electrical testing equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, etc.), and Servo motors, drives, VFDs, and sensors.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical and control issues under time pressure.
- Familiarity with CMMS systems and maintenance documentation.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- May require working overtime, weekends, or off-shift support as needed.
This position requires access to technical data and necessitates that Magellan Aerospace obtain export licensing approval from the U.S. Department of Commerce - Bureau of Industry and Security and/or the U.S. Department of State - Directorate of Defense Trade Controls. As such, hires for this position—except U.S. Citizens, U.S. Permanent Residents, and protected individuals as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)—will be required to go through an export licensing review process.
Pay
The salary range for this role is $25.00 to $32.00 per hour.
