About the role
Electrician responsible for executing the installation, service, and repairs of electrical systems, with the skills and qualifications to certify electrical installations.
Responsibilities
- Configures, assembles, installs, inspects, and maintains electrical and solar systems according to drawings, specifications, schematics, and manufacturers manuals.
- Contributes to the growth and development of electrician helpers.
- Installs brackets, hangers, conduits, wire, and electrical equipment with the assistance of an electrician helper.
- Connects wires to circuit breakers, transformers, inverters, combiner boxes, and/or electrical components.
- Replaces faulty breakers, fuses, switches, electrical and electronic components, and wires during power outages.
- Prepares electrical trenches, equipment concrete pads, and equipment supports.
- Follows safety codes, corporate safety programs, manufacturer’s specifications, and supervisor instructions.
- Adheres to the National Electric Code and Local State Regulations.
- Performs system commissioning, including visual inspection, mechanical testing, and electrical testing.
- Diagnoses malfunctioning systems and components to locate and correct problems.
- Prepares sketches to determine equipment locations and wiring to ensure conformance to NEC, State regulations, and/or safety codes.
- Identifies risks and prepares safety job hazard analyses.
- Assesses the environment, detects, and mitigates hazards associated with installations.
- Completes tasks in a timely manner.
- Participates in meetings, workshops, training, and seminars to convey or gather information required for job functions.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalency.
- Minimum of three years of experience in commercial or industrial electrical work.
- Background in electrical technology or electrical construction through an apprenticeship or formal degree program.
- Knowledgeable in electrical construction and electrical concepts.
- Understands electrical systems, reads blueprints, schematics, and solar-powered systems.
- Familiar with OSHA requirements and standards; 10-hour certification is a plus.
- NFPA 70E requirements and standards certification is a plus.
- Capable of using hand and power tools (benders, screwdrivers, pliers, knives, hacksaw, and wire strippers).
- Must have physical stamina and strength; able to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
- Able to work on roofs of varying heights and climb ladders and scaffolds multiple times a day.
- Active listener with the ability to communicate effectively with others.
- Detail-oriented and able to follow instructions.
- Able to travel and work overtime if required.
