Responsibilities
- Maintain all roadway electrical devices and equipment.
- Install, upgrade, and perform routine and emergency repairs of signals, freeway lighting, and related electronic equipment.
- Inspect the work of contractors hired by MDOT to ensure compliance with specifications and electrical codes.
- Inspect preventative maintenance work of contractors and contract agencies.
- Operate vehicles with a GVWR of 26,001 pounds or more for tasks such as installing and repairing aerial traffic signal equipment, setting poles and pedestals, and installing and repairing overhead wires and cables.
Requirements
- Journeyman Electrician's License issued by the State of Michigan.
- Master Electrician's License issued by the State of Michigan.
- Commercial Learner’s Permit upon appointment.
- Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Group A with either an N or X endorsement and no air brake restrictions.
Qualifications
- High school education or equivalent.
Skills
- Knowledge of electrical codes and regulations.
- Ability to operate heavy machinery and vehicles.
- Attention to detail for maintaining electrical systems.

Pay
The salary range for Electrician Licensed E9 is $31.38 - $40.32 per hour, and for Electrician Master Licensed E10 is $31.75 - $43.30 per hour.
