Electrician II
About the role
Milwaukee Valve Company is seeking an Electrician II to join their team in Department 270 at their location in Prairie Du Sac, WI. All offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen, blood test, physical capabilities test, and background check, all with acceptable results. Applicants are responsible for scheduling and completing these tests within 7 calendar days of offer acceptance. The pay range for this position is $36.67 - $38.55 per hour and is aligned with the candidate's experience and background. A $1,000 sign-on bonus is offered, with $500 paid after the orientation period and another $500 after one year of employment. Regularly scheduled hours are 9:00 AM - 6:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with the possibility of overtime.
Responsibilities
- Read blueprints, schematic/wiring drawings
- Trouble shoot basic PLC operations
- Install and maintain all wiring and lighting systems with help from other qualified maintenance personnel
- Inspect electrical components, such as transformers, circuit breakers, and circuit boards with help from other maintenance personnel
- Identify some electrical problems with a variety of testing equipment
- Repair or replace wiring, equipment, or fixtures using hand and power tools with help from other qualified maintenance personnel
- Follow state and local building regulations based on the National Electric Code
- Maintain cleanliness and safety throughout the department in a prescribed manner
- Work with other maintenance personnel to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring or equipment
- Work in the Foundry and perform split shifts on occasion
- Have working knowledge of 240-V 3 phase 110-volt AC & DC
Requirements
- One year certificate from college or technical school; or 6 to 12 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, blueprints and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Ability to deal effectively with routine problems and situations
- Stand or walk 100% of the shift, frequent bending and lifting 30-40 lbs. frequently, unassisted, 70 lbs. occasionally, assisted or unassisted
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and noise level in the work environment is usually loud
Qualifications
- Education and/or Experience: One year certificate from college or technical school; or 6 to 12 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, blueprints and procedure manuals. Have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Have the ability to communicate effectively.
