Description of Work

• Journeyman Electrical Duties: Plan, coordinate, perform, and be accountable for the installation and maintenance of electrical components.
• System Troubleshooting: Locate and fix power failures, shorts, and related electrical issues.
• Project Planning: Review and analyze requested locations for electric vehicle (EV) charging stations; create project drawings and plans for UCC and other approvals.
• Collaborative Coordination: Plan and coordinate project efforts with other tradespersons and department personnel, attend and contribute to project planning meetings, and assist with seasonal duties.
• Equipment Use: Operate electrical testing devices and tools, erect and work from scaffolding and lifts, properly use safety equipment, and install steel conduit.
• Lead Work: Guide trainees and helpers by assigning tasks, reviewing work for accuracy, and providing assistance with apprenticeship readiness and license test preparation.

Work Schedule and Additional Information

• Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
• Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Required Experience, Training & Eligibility

• Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Six years of experience installing, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems, components, and equipment, including two years performing skilled electrical installation and repair work in commercial, industrial, or multi-unit residential structures; or an equivalent combination of experience and training which includes two years performing skilled electrical installation and repair work in commercial, industrial, or multi-unit residential structures.
• Special Requirements: This position requires possession of a valid license as a journey-level electrician issued by the local Pennsylvania jurisdiction (City of Harrisburg). This position requires possession of an active motor vehicle license.

Additional Requirements

• You must be able to perform essential job functions.
• Preferred Qualifications (not required): Formal training in a high school or vocational program, apprenticeship, or post-high school technical program in the electrical trade; Possession of a Master's Electrician License; Electrical experience in a commercial or industrial setting; Experience reading and interpreting blueprints; Experience with 3 phase electrical systems; Experience working with voltages over 480v; Experience as a lead worker on an electrical project and/or job; Experience in snow removal with plows, snow blowers, or other snow removal equipment.
