Electrical Technician - Plate

About the role

Arconic is seeking an Electrical Technician to join our Plate Mill in Davenport, Iowa. This role supports and maintains production equipment, provides technical leadership, and contributes to a safe, innovative workplace.

Responsibilities

• Support and maintain a safe workplace by actively participating in safety processes and upholding Arconic's EHS policies.
• Provide technical and tactical support for planned and unplanned equipment breakdowns, including specialized equipment such as Direct Fire melt furnaces, Allen Bradley Programmable Controllers, RS Logics, and AC/DC drives.
• Assist Engineering with tune-ups, checkouts, and commissioning of new or revised equipment.
• Train and mentor Unit Supervisors and craftspeople to improve technical skills across the organization.
• Support the Lead Operator process and upskill craftspeople by developing and executing training plans.
• Lead the development of SOPs, WIPs, and related procedures for new and existing equipment, including training on these procedures.
• Provide technical input for preventive and predictive maintenance systems.
• Recommend and implement improvements to control systems or equipment to enhance reliability.
• Lead problem-solving and root cause analysis efforts, documenting and retaining records on technical issues.
• Assist in critical spare parts management.
• Apply Arconic Business Systems concepts and Stability Tools to integrate maintenance processes into daily operations.

This position requires flexibility with hours, generally Monday–Friday 7 AM–4 PM, with off-shift support as needed.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of 3 years’ electrical experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Pass an electrical proficiency exam.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; verification of employment eligibility required at hire. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include:

• Completion of a recognized electrical apprenticeship, four years of on-the-job training, or an electrical degree from an accredited technical college.
• Broad electrical experience, with knowledge of combustion systems preferred.
• Experience in metal casting, melting furnaces, and instrumentation.
• Strong ability to read electrical drawings, troubleshoot to root cause, and implement repairs.
• Experience with PLC programming, troubleshooting, AC & DC motors, and variable speed drives.
• Experience with combustion systems or commercial/industrial boilers.
• Knowledge of process control and instrumentation principles.
