MOS Codes: 15L(Army), 002794(Navy), 3E012(Air Force).
Education and Experience
- Associate’s degree or higher in Business Administration, Environmental Science, Electrical Engineering or a related field and three (3) years of journey-level industrial electrician experience in an industrial environment, water, or wastewater treatment facility, including one (1) year of supervisory experience
- High School Diploma or GED and five (5) years of journey-level industrial electrician experience in an industrial environment, water, or wastewater treatment facility, including one (1) year of supervisory experience
Licenses and Certificates
- Valid Texas Class "C" Driver's License or equivalent issued by another state by time of appointment.
- Valid State of Texas Journeyman License required at time of application.
Typical Duties
- Oversee the inspection and testing of electrical equipment, components, and systems to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment, repair, or replacement.
- Involves: Oversee the installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems in buildings.
- Develop and implement electrical safety and electrical maintenance procedures and maintain maintenance records.
- Aid in developing and preparing electrical plans, schematic diagrams, and document modifications to upgrade electrical equipment and facilities.
- Estimate electrical projects to include staffing, material, and cost and recommend repair or replacement of equipment.
- Install, service, troubleshoot, and repair systems, equipment, and components to required specifications.
- Aid in performing analysis of wiring diagrams, drawings, and circuits.
- Perform updates on electrical production equipment and systems.
- Interpret electrical codes, technical drawings, diagrams, flow charts, and project documentation.
- Direct coordination of electrical and location of underground lines and other service needs with subordinates, contractors, vendors, and others.
- Monitor and inspect the work performed by subordinates and contractors to ensure compliance with the current adopted National Electrical Code (NEC) and city ordinances.
- Recommend operational changes to preserve and enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Prepare, research, and maintain project budgets and ensure all deliverables are to be completed in a timely manner.
- Direct, mentor, and support the industrial electricians performing electrical work.
