Position Summary

This position works under minimal supervision and works primarily on negotiated commercial projects within the core markets. Works closely with architects, engineers, owners, and subcontractors.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Must have experience preparing detailed conceptual cost estimates and conceptual cost studies from schematic or feasibility level documentation.
  • Absolute ability to prepare detailed estimate updates, as the design evolves, including preparing variance summaries between estimates.
  • Must have knowledge and understanding of unit costs and the factors that affect construction cost.
  • Absolute ability to prepare detailed instructions to bidders, trade specific clarifications and comprehensive bid packages.
  • Absolute ability to understand and negotiate electrical and/or mechanical work.
  • Must have experience writing and negotiating subcontracts.
  • Absolute willingness and desire to actively participate in Value Engineering sessions with the project team and design team.
  • Can develop business with new and existing Customers.

Other Duties And Responsibilities

Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective processes, completion of projects and smooth operation of department.

Qualifications

  • Education and Experience: Bachelors degree a plus or equivalent required related experience3+ years of experience as a Commercial Construction Estimator, preferably within CECs Core Market projects
  • Required Skills, Knowledge, And Abilities: Must have a current Drivers License and reliable transportation.Must meet attendance standards and comply with late/absence notification procedures.Must be able to pass drug and background check.Alignment with companys mission, vision, and values.Proficient in Windows, Excel, Word, Outlook, and Bluebeam.High attention to detail, accuracy, and thoroughness.Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize.Ability to identify and resolve complex issues.Excellent listening skills and strong communication skills.Flexible and adaptable; ability to work in a team environment and initiative to work aloneAbility to work flexible hours, if needed.

Wear personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, safety vest), as needed.

Work Hours

Must be able to traverse and inspect all areas of jobsite in all types of weather; this may include walking, climbing reaching, bending crawling, standing, or stretching.Must be able to occasionally lift up to 40 pounds. Move about on the feet regularly. Sit for extended periods of time.Requires the ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods of time.May require travel.Exposure to characteristic construction site dangers.Talk and hear, ability to communicate with others both written and orally and by telephone.

On-Call Availability

Must be on-call to address delays, emergencies, bad weather, and other issues at the jobsite.

Customer Presence

Must be able to work in the presence of customers and their representatives with little or no interference or disruption to the customer while maintaining a professional and courteous image.
