Position Summary The EHSS Supervisor – Wireless Operations is responsible for supporting the execution of AFL's Environment, Health, Safety, and Security (EHSS) programs across Wireless construction activities. This role serves as a frontline EHSS leader, working closely with field personnel, supervisors, contractors, and project leadership to identify risks, verify controls, and promote safe work execution. The EHSS Supervisor provides day-to-day field support, coaching, auditing, and compliance oversight while helping drive a proactive safety culture throughout Wireless Operations. The role is highly visible in the field and serves as a critical link between project teams and EHSS leadership. Reporting to the EHSS Manager – Wireless Operations, the EHSS Supervisor supports the implementation of EHSS initiatives, assists with incident investigations, monitors compliance, and escalates significant concerns requiring management intervention. The position has authority to stop work when conditions present an imminent risk to personnel, property, or operations. Scope of Responsibility Support EHSS execution across wireless construction, modification, and upgrade activities. Provide field-based safety leadership and compliance oversight for assigned regions, markets, programs, or customers. Serve as a resource and mentor to EHSS Advisors and operational supervisors. Conduct field audits, inspections, observations, and risk assessments. Support contractor safety management and customer compliance requirements. The position is field-intensive and supports multiple active project sites. Key Responsibilities Field Leadership & Safety Culture Promote a proactive, risk-based safety culture throughout Wireless Operations. Maintain consistent field presence to observe work activities and provide real-time coaching. Reinforce AFL's core values, operating principles, and EHSS expectations. Partner with field leadership to proactively identify and mitigate workplace hazards. Escalate significant EHSS concerns to management while exercising stop-work authority when necessary. EHSS Program Execution Support implementation of corporate EHSS policies, procedures, and programs. Verify field compliance with AFL standards, customer requirements, and regulatory obligations. Participate in site planning activities, pre-task discussions, and risk reviews. Assist operational leaders in addressing EHSS concerns and corrective actions. Support continuous improvement efforts and best practice sharing across projects. Risk Management & Field Assessments Conduct jobsite inspections, audits, and field observations. Assist with hazard identification and task-specific risk assessments. Focus on critical risks including:Working at heightsElectrical safetySIMOPSMobile equipment operationsConfined space entry, where applicable Verify that critical controls are implemented and functioning effectively. Support management of change processes when work conditions or scope changes occur. Contractor Safety Oversight Support contractor onboarding and safety orientation activities. Monitor contractor compliance with AFL and customer safety requirements. Conduct routine field assessments of contractor work practices. Work with project leadership to address deficiencies and corrective actions. Escalate recurring or high-risk issues to EHSS and operational leadership. Incident Management & Corrective Actions Respond to incidents, near misses, and hazard reports as assigned. Conduct preliminary investigations and gather supporting documentation. Assist EHSS leadership with root cause analysis and corrective action development. Monitor corrective action completion and effectiveness. Participate in emergency response planning and preparedness activities. Customer & Regulatory Support Support customer audits, inspections, and safety reviews. Interface with customer representatives regarding site-specific EHSS requirements. Assist with regulatory compliance activities and documentation maintenance. Ensure EHSS records and reports are complete, accurate, and audit-ready. Training & Employee Development Deliver and support EHSS training initiatives for employees and contractors. Provide field-based coaching to supervisors, leads, and crews. Reinforce key safety expectations through toolbox talks, observations, and site engagement. Mentor EHSS Advisors and assist in developing field safety capabilities. Metrics, Reporting & Continuous Improvement Track and report EHSS performance metrics and leading indicators. Review audit results, corrective actions, and compliance trends. Identify opportunities to improve field execution and reduce operational risk. Provide recommendations and field insights to EHSS leadership and business operations. Success Measures / KPIs Reduction in recordable and high-potential incidents Completion and quality of field audits and observations Timely corrective action closure Contractor compliance performance Training and engagement effectiveness Positive customer audit and feedback results Demonstrated improvement in leading safety indicators Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in EHSS, Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience). 5+ years of EHSS experience supporting construction, telecommunications, utility, or field-based operations. Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety requirements. Experience conducting field inspections, audits, and investigations. Strong communication, coaching, and relationship-building skills. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced field environment. Ability to travel up to 60% and support off-hours activities as required. Preferred Wireless or telecommunications construction experience. Experience supporting multiple projects or geographic regions. OSHA 30 Certification. CHST, ASP, CSP, or equivalent safety certification. Bilingual capability (Spanish preferred). Working Conditions Remote-based with significant travel to customer and project sites. Regular exposure to active construction environments, elevated work areas, and outdoor conditions. Flexibility to support night work, weekend activities, and weather-driven operational schedules.
