Key Responsibilities
- Work in a fast-paced team environment with constant interruptions, quick communications regarding business goals, extensive short-term planning based on established/changing priorities, ongoing problem solving, and some irregular hours required
- Manage and communicate status of Workers Compensation Claims in coordination with a TPA
- Convey knowledge of Safety Programs that comply with OSHA 1910
- Lead through influence working across different departments and shifts
- Manage projects to completion, both short and long term
- Maintain confidentiality and professional integrity
- Use DMAIC problem solving to facilitate Incident investigations, recommend countermeasures, conduct safety related loss analysis
- Drive Continuous Improvement for the location’s overall EHS programs
- Cook up Powered Industrial Equipment program with site department leaders to ensure compliance
- Provide case management to any injuries that require treatment beyond first aid to ensure health care of employee post work related injury following Yankee Candle’s Injury Treatment Protocol and as advised by Medical & Health Care Advisor
- Organize and guide site safety committees to perform tasks that positively benefit and help drive improvement of the location’s safety effort
- Facilitate effective EH&S related training for Hourly and Salary associates, temporary, and visitors following company procedures
- Coordinate the specialized training programs (LOTO, Confined Space, etc.) with subject matter experts. Ensure specialized trainings comply with all OSHA, NEC, NFPA regulations. Provide coaching to Experts/Trainers to further develop skill set
- Absorb and assist in the creation/updates of site-specific safety training programs and materials
Qualifications
- Potential candidate would hold an Associate’s Degree (Bachelor’s preferred) in Occupational Health & Safety or other manufacturing related field. Plant experience will be considered with progressive responsibility relating to EHS programs
- Workers Compensation experience preferred
- Excellent MS Office software skills including PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, and Word. PowerBI experience a plus
- Experience navigating cloud-based programs such as SharePoint a plus
- Strong presentation skills and experience in training multiple skill levels
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Knowledge of safety in manufacturing environment and OSHA regulations
- Knowledge of Workers Compensation Claims Management
- Highly organized with ability to change focus in fast paced environment with changing priorities
- Knowledge of Environmental Regulations a plus
