About the role

HII-Mission Technologies is seeking an experienced EH&S Manager to lead the Environmental Health and Safety Department. The role is based in San Diego, CA with some local travel.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and continuously improve company’s Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
• Manage the creation and delivery of OSHA/NAVSEA SI training content to meet regulatory requirements.
• Provide employees with the necessary training tailored to their job functions.
• Analyze and solve safety issues or problem areas on board vessels and at shore-based facilities.
• Conduct incident investigations, including root cause analysis and injury prevention.
• Perform workplace safety surveillances/inspections on board vessels and at shore-based facilities (commercial and military).
• Create reports and presentations as needed.
• Seek out opportunities for self-improvement through continuous education and training.

Requirements

• 6+ years of relevant progressive experience with a Bachelor’s degree in a related field; or 4+ years with a Master’s degree; or 10+ years with a High School diploma and relevant experience.
• Experience using MS Office suite products for reporting and presentations (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
• Working knowledge of OSHA and NAVSEA Standard Items, along with other safety-related state and federal agencies.
• Demonstrated ability to recognize, evaluate, and recommend controls for workplace hazards on board ships and at shore-based facilities.
• Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Must wear hearing, eye, and head protection and other PPE when required.
• Ability to obtain an interim secret clearance with the expectation to have a full Secret Clearance upon completion of eQIP and background investigation.

Qualifications

• OSHA-5400-Maritime Train the Trainer Certification.
• Authorized Trainer for Rigging. Aircraft Carrier Elevators and Door Maintenance, Shipyard Competent Person Training, PermitAuthorizing Individual, Scaffolding Competent Person, PFAS Instructor, Damage Control/AFFF Systems Maintenance.
• DOT/RCRA Training.
• MET Training.
• MEWP Training.
• Respiratory Protection Program Management.
• Analyzing Maritime Paint Samples for Heavy Metals.
• Certified Asbestos Sampler.
• Interacting with Regulatory Agencies such as OSHA and EPA.

Pay

The anticipated salary range for this role is $106,426.00 - $130,000.00, based on location, expectations, and responsibilities.
