EH&S Manager

The EHS Manager is accountable for developing and implementing Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security (EHS&S) programs and best practices to ensure compliance with governmental agencies and alignment with Construction Products Group EHS&S standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop and communicate EHS&S code of conduct standards, ensuring mutual understanding and mitigating exposure to hazardous conditions in business operations and product uses.
• Lead the development and implementation of comprehensive regulatory compliance programs for occupational health and safety, hazardous materials management, environmental management, transportation materials safety, security, and product compliance.
• Interpret regulations and develop compliant, organizationally appropriate standards for Tremco CPG.
• Conduct EHS&S audits, document compliance statistics, and recommend annual safety program changes and objectives.
• Represent CPG with professional organizations, regulatory bodies, and governmental agencies.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for Tremco CPG EHS&S business unit operations and associated staff.
• Act as an expert witness in investigations and legal proceedings, if needed.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge and documentation of EHS&S rules, regulations, and legislation relevant to business operations and product mix.
• Research best practices and program innovations, particularly in chemicals manufacturing, distribution, and disposal, and recommend policy improvements.
• Prepare recommendations for pending or anticipated legislative changes and develop proactive, cost-effective program options.
• Travel to Tremco CPG locations to serve as a resource for EHS&S compliance, hazardous materials management, and product compliance.
• Develop and implement enterprise-wide EHS&S compliance programs, delivering tools and training to ensure organizational compliance.
• Identify and correct non-compliant processes through formal audits and recommend solutions to mitigate risk.
• Ensure all business units are trained and resourced to comply with Tremco CPG and RPM EHS&S standards.
• Assess medium- and long-term EHS&S human resources requirements and prepare plans to develop or recruit needed talent.
• Prepare, implement, and monitor the annual program budget, taking corrective action on variances.
• Provide analysis and recommendations on financial implications of product, program, and regulatory changes, including cost/benefit analysis.
• Establish regulatory guidelines and performance standards for EHS&S risks, conducting ongoing audits and reporting.
• Assist business units in investigating serious EHS&S-related accidents, incidents, and breaches, and implement measures to mitigate future risks.
• Provide guidance to business unit leaders to ensure operational plans comply with organizational and jurisdictional EHS&S standards.
• Develop standards for training, audit, and reporting to meet ongoing and evolving requirements.
• Provide feedback to senior management on the feasibility and advisability of business strategies from a regulatory compliance and EHS&S best practices perspective.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year accredited college or university in Natural Sciences (Chemistry, Engineering, Environmental Sciences, or Safety Sciences).
• 4–10 years’ experience leading and contributing to compliance and regulatory policy and program development in a materials processing environment.
• Formal training in occupational health and safety.
• Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certificate from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals preferred.
• Ability to travel across North America approximately 25% of the time.
• Broad understanding of regulatory compliance requirements, risk assessment, and mitigation programs in multiple (particularly North American) jurisdictions.
• Ability to inspire commitment to EHS&S program goals in a production environment with varying literacy and educational backgrounds.
• Ability to develop a business case for new program development or modification.
• Ability to manage program administration across multiple divisions (production, distribution, warehousing, sales, and marketing).
• ISO 9001 and 14001 certifications highly preferred.
• Bilingual in English/French or English/Spanish highly preferred.

Work Location & Physical Demands

This role will work onsite at one of our manufacturing locations. The incumbent must be able to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, climb, balance, kneel, talk, hear, taste, and lift up to 50 lbs.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $90,631 to $113,289, based on potential employee qualifications, operations needs, and other considerations permitted by law.
