Responsibilities
- Accountable for the safety of all employees for whom they are responsible through active engagement in safety activities and provides clear, consistent communication of safe work expectations.
- Support and investigates situations in which line/equipment stoppage occurs due to perceived, imminent safety risk.
- Completes responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures, and applicable laws
- Actively leads risk assessment activities for their area of responsibility by driving prioritized corrective and preventive actions to eliminate/reduce environmental, health or safety risks.
- Lead all required meetings with safety (i.e. Pre-shift, Department, Change Management, General communication, Town Hall, etc.)
- Completes incident investigations, root cause analysis and implements corrective actions accordingly in a timely and thorough manner.
- Ensures the proper training and development of all assigned employees for whom they are responsible.
- Sets goals for their organizational unit; achieves goals and ensures that all employees understand and work toward achieving goals.
- Motivates and coaches’ employees through good communication and frequent performance feedback. Identifies and coordinates additional training as needed.
- Responding to any emergency or potential emergency.
- Security diligence, including maintaining control of personal key cards, preventing unauthorized entry to the facility by non-Amcor employees, and proper maintenance / security of Amcor information and equipment within your direct responsibility.
- Constant vigilance and participation in Safety, Food Safety and Quality practices and procedures.
- Identify and record problems relating to products, processes and quality system.
Authority
- Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any non-conformity of product or quality systems and recommend or provide solutions through designated channels.
- Suggest actions for continual improvement to products, processes, or systems and verify the implementation of solutions.
Duties
- Observe all Safety precautions, Food Safety requirements and Plant rules to prevent injury to self or others and to prevent loss of material or damage to equipment.
- Follow and wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Maintain good housekeeping and 5S.
- Help implement and manage safety programs, policies and procedures.
- Oversee the maintenance of OSHA record keeping reports.
- Oversee Safety / First Aid Teams.
- Conduct quarterly Management Safety reviews.
- Conduct, Manage, & Report Weekly Safety Audits including all findings & corrective actions.
- Identify at risk behaviors/conditions within the plant and implement corrective measures.
- Investigate all incidents and property losses.
- Aids in the review and sustainability of Health, Safety and Environmental Management Systems, including annual review of all written regulatory policies.
- Builds an understanding of EHS initiatives, policies, procedures and regulatory requirements through regular check-ins/meetings with Multi-Site EHS manager.
- Implements and promotes environmental and safety projects.
- Production floor presence daily and liaison for EHS with employees, Frontline Leaders and Management.
- Regulatory compliance and housekeeping audits weekly and monthly. Maintains the Compliance Calendar to ensure all tasks are met on time and staff held accountable.
- Conducts EHS new hire orientation and ensures all technical personnel are trained and authorized based on the site’s Training Matrix.
- Facilitate authorized/technical safety training including documented skill demonstration; including Authorized lock out tag out, crane use, forklift; fall protection; confined space, hot work and site-specific training and schedule with departments.
- Develops and implements training for compliance for health and safety programs including, but not limited to, hazard communications, safe working practices, and PPE.
- Ensures proper inventory/selection of PPE; approves all PPE and new chemical purchases.
- Assists in first responder duties including treatment, injury, illness, incident record keeping through internal reporting processes and leads onsite investigation team through RCA and CAPA.
- Plan and track EHS improvement projects from suggestions to completion, with input and oversight from Multi-site EHS Manager, using Risk Register to rank priority/success.
- Data entry of actions; incidents and training in GDC database. Assists in closure of corrective and preventive actions.
- Assists in maintenance of local EHS policies, procedures and regulatory requirements including Site Work Plans.
- Develop, coordinate and lead "daily safety talks" and one-point lesson training and awareness programs throughout the organization as defined by regulations, policies and/or incident trends.
- Provide management with safety training information for monthly safety meetings.
- Organize and oversee all OSHA/EPA/DOT required training (i.e., fork truck, lockout, SPCC).
- Organize and maintain GHS/SDS.
- Assist with the administration of the workers compensation program.
- Manage all Federal, State & Local environmental permits and ensure compliance.
- Manage the Contractor safety program and ensure compliance.
- Perform any other duties established by the Multi-Site EHS Manager.
Qualifications
- Capable of physical mobility including sitting, bending, twisting, standing, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Maintaining an attendance record within company guidelines including a negative drug screen test results and working required overtime.
- High school diploma or GED equivalency. Read, write and speak English.
- Extensive knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other government regulations.
- 1-3 years Safety Experience in an industrial setting.
- Strong organizational skills with proven ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Highly motivated, self-directed work ethic with excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Capable of traveling as required.
Preferred Skills
- Two or four-year degree in Occupational Health and Safety Management preferred.
