About the Role

This position offers the opportunity to support TE’s Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) efforts for our Carpinteria, CA facility. The EHS Lab Analyst will report to the AD&M EHS Manager at our Paxton St location and is responsible for guiding and building EH&S programs as well as TE Corporate and AD&M business unit-level EHS initiatives to establish a zero-injury and environmental-defect culture.

Due to ITAR regulations, current US citizenship or US Lawful Permanent Residency (green card) is required to apply for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a working interface between facilities, Business Unit Management, and the Corporate Environmental, Health, and Safety Department.
  • Develop policies, standards, and procedures and work with management to ensure implementation and uniform compliance with federal, state, local, and company regulations.
  • Oversee the site’s safety committee, ensuring each lab has representation and that members are engaged in overall EHS management.
  • Coordinate reporting, tracking, root cause, and trend analysis of workplace incidents, injuries, illnesses, and environmental incidents. Create corrective actions and assign them to responsible parties.
  • Provide guidance and improve Job Safety Analyses (JSA) and Risk Assessments. Ensure all labs capture routine tasks in JSAs and understand when to utilize non-routine risk assessments.
  • Work with management to set short-term (annual) and long-term (3-5 year) goals for safety, health, and environmental system improvements, including reductions in injury, illness, and environmental incidents.
  • Facilitate and direct efforts to meet or exceed EHS goals.
  • Provide guidance to the management team for continuous improvement of the overall safety culture.
  • Plan, administer, and track multiple safety programs, including hazardous communication, contractor safety, machine guarding, behavioral-based safety, powered industrial truck, electrical safety, and other safety policies/procedures.
  • Facilitate and provide expertise in safety, health, and environmental activities (following the Hierarchy of Controls), such as workplace inspections, risk assessments for new/existing equipment, and industrial hygiene surveys.
  • Work with lab managers to standardize all EHS documentation.
  • Manage facility environmental permits, track annual energy reduction projects, and report monthly safety and environmental metrics.
  • Plan, implement, maintain, and monitor the EH&S management system tool.
  • Oversee the Management of Change (MOC) process, including process changes and new or transferred equipment.
  • Assist or lead internal or external audits, provide corrective actions, assign responsibility, and track to closure.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental or safety science or other related technical field, with 5+ years of EH&S working experience, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Behavioral-Based Safety experience.
  • Knowledge of environmental permitting.
  • Working knowledge of industrial ergonomics.
  • Ability to work with and manage safety initiatives.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to facilitate interactions with Business Unit Management, laboratory staff, and shop floor personnel, including preparing and delivering presentations.
  • Experience managing electrical and chemical safety programs.

Pay

Competitive base salary range: $105,000 – $155,000 (subject to change based on physical location and experience/qualification of the selected candidate). Total compensation includes base salary, incentives, and benefits.
