Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supports Individual and group related learning activities for all students in the nursing program with the guidance and supervision of nursing faculty.
  • Basic knowledge of nursing fundamentals, pharmacology and skills is preferred.
  • Assists with preparing simulation scenarios (medications, supplies, equipment, charting) under the guidance of the simulation faculty.
  • Maintains confidentiality (consistent with Federal and State privacy laws) with regards to student records.
  • Supports special projects (e.g. grants, simulation training).
  • Performs assorted organizational tasks (photocopying and record keeping, preparing answer keys and using scantron software, inspecting and cleaning, when necessary, equipment and mannequins in nursing labs and simulation).
  • Participates in related in-service training, workshops, divisional meetings, and other educational activities as required.
  • Schedule and attend meetings with other educational assistants and lead faculty.
  • Work collaboratively with vendors, contractors and technical support staff to ensure all equipment is maintained and functioning properly. Obtain estimates from vendors and assist in ordering lab and simulation supplies; creates purchase orders for needed equipment and supplies in collaboration with faculty and dean.

Qualifications

  • Compliance with all state, federal, and accreditation standards/requirements, as well as all MATC policies and procedures.
  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Required Minimum Education: Associate degree or higher in a comparable field preferred.
    • Required Minimum Experience: At least two (2) years of comparable experience.
  • PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
    • Bachelor degree or higher in related field and with at least three (3) or more years of comparable experience.
    • Basic knowledge of nursing fundamentals, pharmacology and skills is highly preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs., carry, and push up to 20 lbs. and ability pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to climb stairs and a ladder and maintain balance.
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, hear and speak.
  • Sitting/Standing/Walking: 50% of time spent sitting, 25% of time standing, and 25% of time walking.

Supplemental Information

  • Start Date: This position supports the Healthcare Pathway and is available to start as soon as possible.
  • HOURS: Up to 19 hours weekly, in-person, Multi-campus. Work is conducted during scheduled course hours, Monday - Friday.
  • SALARY: Hourly pay rates are listed up to the midpoint of the range and placement is determined based on years of experience, internal equity, and a review of the applicant's employment and educational background as listed on the job application.

    • PART-TIME STAFF SUPPORT; employees pay a higher percentage of the premium than full-time employees.
    • HEALTH INSURANCE: MATC offers a choice between two medical insurance plans.
    • DENTAL INSURANCE: MATC offers a traditional group dental plan through Delta Dental.
    • GROUP TERM LIFE INSURANCE: MATC offers group life insurance benefits through Symetra Provident Insurance with active assignment and is fully paid for by the College. The amount of insurance is $15,000. The benefit is doubled in the event of accidental death.
    • RETIREMENT BENEFITS: If you are employed for greater than 12 months and meet the minimum hours requirement for participation in the WRS pension system, you will be notified of your eligibility. The College currently pays the full cost of the employer contribution (6.9%), and the employee pays the full part of the employee contribution of 6.9% of salary. There is a five year vesting period requirement in order to qualify for any employer contributions made on the employee's behalf.
    • FLEXIBLE SPENDING PLANS: MATC offers eligible employees the opportunity to participate in both Health Care and Dependent Care flexible spending accounts administered through UMR.
    • SICK LEAVE BENEFITS: Sick leave hours granted based on hours worked in summary from 8/15 of previous year through 8/14 of current year. The maximum hours accumulation is 640 hours.
    • VACATION BENEFITS: Vacation hours granted based on hours worked summary from 3/15 of previous year through 3/14 of current year (Not available for Instructors)
    • PAID HOLIDAYS: MATC offers paid/flex holidays based on position.
