Education and Outreach Specialist
About the role
The Education and Outreach Specialist serves as a bridge between community members and providers through outreach and education across the southern Trillium counties on the East coast of North Carolina. The Education and Outreach Specialist provides support to the team by attending community events that may include evenings, weekends and holidays. Flexibility is essential to accommodate community events outside of standard business hours. This is a community-based position and candidates must reside in New Hanover County. You must be willing to travel within all regional counties (including Craven, Jones, Carteret, Sampson, Duplin, Onslow, Pender, New Hanover, Brunswick, Columbus, Bladen, Robeson, Hoke, and Scotland).
Responsibilities
- Attend community events to increase access to care and improve health literacy.
- Promote wellness through community education and engagement.
- Connect individuals to vital resources.
- Support the team by attending community events that may include evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Travel within all regional counties (including Craven, Jones, Carteret, Sampson, Duplin, Onslow, Pender, New Hanover, Brunswick, Columbus, Bladen, Robeson, Hoke, and Scotland).
Requirements
- A high school diploma or GED.
- Maintain a valid NC driver’s license and auto insurance for personal and agency vehicles utilized for work.
Qualifications
- Experience with the unhomed population and/or community-based experience preferred.
Skills
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Excellent communication and public speaking skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects.
- Attention to detail.

Pay
An hourly rate of $18.
