Economic Specialist 13 (Economic Modeling Specialist)

About the role

This position evaluates and assesses resource adequacy plans of utilities and alternative electric suppliers. Responsibilities include drafting recommendations to the Director and Commissioners, providing testimony to the Michigan legislature, serving as an expert witness, and coordinating staff efforts for developing economic forecasts.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates and assesses resource adequacy plans of utilities and alternative electric suppliers
• Drafts recommendations to the Director and Commissioners
• Provides testimony to the Michigan legislature on behalf of the Commission
• Serves as an expert witness providing testimony regarding forecasting and economic modeling issues
• Performs highly technical, complex economic and statistical analysis of utility data and confidential information
• Coordinates staff efforts within the MPSC, MAE, MDEQ, Michigan stakeholders, and regional stakeholders for developing assumptions and scenarios for economic forecasting of the future electric grid
• Serves as the key advisor to the MPSC management, Commissioners, and the Director of the Michigan Agency for Energy on issues related to resource adequacy and economic modeling

Requirements

• Possession of a bachelor's degree with a major in economics
• Four years of professional experience performing economic analysis and modeling activities, including two years equivalent to an Economic Analyst P11 or one year equivalent to an Economic Analyst 12
