Economic Service Worker

About the Role

Perform at the full performance level in processing applications, ascertaining eligibility for, and overseeing a caseload for a variety of economic assistance programs including, but not limited to SNAP, various Medicaid programs, Emergency Assistance/LIEAP, and School Clothing Vouchers.

Schedule telephone and face-to-face interviews. Conduct personal interviews with clients regarding their personal, financial, and social information. Determine eligibility for services, maintain an up-to-date client caseload, and refer clients to various supportive services and agencies when needed. May obtain repayment from clients who have been issued benefits erroneously.

Requirements

Training

Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university.

Substitution

• Any combination of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience providing direct client services (e.g., interviewing clients, customers, or the public, and evaluating data against established standards and guidelines) may substitute for the required training on a year-for-year basis.
• Full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in customer service, telemarketing, retail, or clerical work may substitute for the required training on a year-for-year basis.
• Successful completion of college coursework from a regionally accredited college or university may substitute for the required training on a year-for-year basis (every 30 credit hours equals one year of training).
• Experience in Economic Services work requiring program eligibility decisions may substitute for the required training at the rate of one year of experience equaling two years of training.

Special Requirement

A valid driver's license may be required.
