About the Role

This position primarily serves the Bureau for Family Assistance as the Economic Service Worker for Raleigh General Hospital.

Responsibilities

  • Processing and tracking applications for individuals requesting economic assistance through Bureau programs.
  • Conducting thorough telephone and face-to-face interviews with clients to gather personal, financial, and social information to determine program benefits eligibility.
  • Completing reviews and determining eligibility for services such as SNAP, Medicaid, Emergency Assistance/LIEAP, and School Clothing Assistance.
  • Keeping an up-to-date client caseload while ensuring timely and accurate case processing and tracking.
  • Monitoring and responding to communications from clients, client services, supervisors, program managers, and upper management, including checking and responding to emails and phone calls.
  • Referring clients to additional support services and agencies as needed.
  • Maintaining current knowledge of policy updates and program changes.
  • Entering and managing client data in appropriate systems and dashboards.
  • Assisting in the recovery of overissued benefits when applicable.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Training: Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university.

Substitution: Any combination of the following may substitute for the required training on a year-for-year basis:

  • Full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience providing direct client services such as interviewing clients, customers, or the public, and evaluating the data against established standards and guidelines.
  • Full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience performing customer service, telemarketing, retail, or clerical work.
  • Successful completion of college coursework from a regionally accredited college or university (every thirty (30) credit hours equals one (1) year of training).
  • Experience in Economic Services work requiring program eligibility decisions (one (1) year of experience equals two (2) years of training).

Special Requirement: A valid driver's license may be required.
