Echocardiography Technologist (Per Diem , Day) - Center City, Philadelphia

About the role

The Echocardiography Diagnostic Technician performs complete echocardiographic examinations including M-mode, two-dimension and Doppler Echocardiography on clinical and/or research patients. Assists the Cardiologist, Fellows or other appropriate personnel in performing trans esophageal echocardiographic and stress echocardiographic examinations.

Responsibilities

• Escorts patient from waiting area to examination room and reviews written history questionnaires.
• Explains the nature of test to patient.
• Performs echocardiograms – 2D, M-mode, color Doppler according to department policy to comply with physician orders/standard of care.
• Performs trans-esophageal echocardiograms (TEE) on non-operative/intra-operative basis according to department policy to comply with physician orders/standard of care.
• Performs dobutamine stress echocardiograms (DSE), Stress Echocardiograms according to department policy to comply with physician orders/standards of care.
• Logs all pertinent patient/test data to ensure accurate billing/record keeping for the hospital and department.
• Monitors performance/repair of clinical equipment to ensure the quality of all testing and the safety of staff and internal/external customers.
• Maintains images in EHR
• Cleans/disinfects/sterilizes clinical equipment to ensure staff and internal/external customer safety from pathogens.
• Participates in on call as per department policy.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High school diploma and completion of a two-year echocardiography training program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or cardiovascular technology program accredited by the CAAHEP. 1+ year’s echocardiogram experience preferred. Credentialing International (CCI) required.
