Echocardiograph Technologist (Per Diem) - Stratford

About the role

The Echocardiography Diagnostic Technologist performs complete echocardiographic examinations including M-mode, two-dimensional, and Doppler Echocardiography on clinical and/or research patients. They assist the Cardiologist, Fellows, or other appropriate personnel in performing trans-esophageal echocardiographic and stress echocardiographic examinations. They may also assist in coordinating efficient patient flow, staff assignments, educational support, and ensuring highest quality procedures consistent with IAC standards for Echocardiography.

Responsibilities

• Performs complete echocardiographic examinations including M-mode, two-dimensional, and Doppler Echocardiography on clinical and/or research patients.
• Affords assistance to the Cardiologist, Fellows, or other appropriate personnel during trans-esophageal echocardiographic and stress echocardiographic examinations.
• Affords assistance in coordinating efficient patient flow, staff assignments, educational support, and ensuring highest quality procedures consistent with IAC standards for Echocardiography.

Requirements

• Education: High School Diploma/GED, plus completion of a two-year echocardiography training program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or cardiovascular technology program accredited by the CAAHEP.
• Experience: 1 year echocardiogram experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Understanding of the necessity and value of accuracy and attention to detail, ability to process information with high levels of accuracy.
• Heart Function Monitoring: Knowledge of the heart's major functions and activities, ability to detect heart arrhythmias, to recognize any emergency conditions in heart functioning, and to assist physicians in emergency responses to heart irregularities.
• Cardiac Testing: Knowledge of and ability to use various equipment to examine the functioning and anatomy of the heart, following organizational protocols, in order to obtain accurate results for further diagnosis of heart disease.
• Echocardiogram Examination: Knowledge of the principles of echocardiography, ability to perform echocardiograms and other cardiac ultrasound procedures to attain effective diagnostic evaluations of the heart.
• Medical Record Keeping: Knowledge of processes and procedures for documenting patient information from intake to archiving.
• Medical Equipment: Knowledge of the common types of equipment or devices used in the healthcare industry, and the ability to use these in patient care.

Skills

• Knowledge of the principles of echocardiography, ability to perform echocardiograms and other cardiac ultrasound procedures to attain effective diagnostic evaluations of the heart.
• Ability to detect heart arrhythmias, to recognize any emergency conditions in heart functioning, and to assist physicians in emergency responses to heart irregularities.
