Assists one or more Early Childhood teachers in the education, care, supervision, and instruction of preschool-aged children in classrooms, common areas, playgrounds, and community settings. Maintains and prepares classroom environments, materials, and forms. Assists in developing play-oriented curriculum.
Responsibilities
- Support Early Childhood teachers in daily classroom activities.
- Maintain and prepare classroom and related environments.
- Assist in developing and implementing play-oriented curriculum.
- Supervise children in classrooms, common areas, playgrounds, and community settings.
- Prepare and manage classroom materials and forms.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED).
- 6 college units in Early Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or a related field with emphasis on infant to preschool-age children.
- 48 college credit units or passage of a competency assessment (e.g., Paraeducator Proficiency Exam).
- One year of experience in a preschool enrichment program or child care setting (preferred).
- CPR/First Aid certificate with pediatric endorsement.
- Valid driver’s license (may be required).
Pay
$19.61 - $25.94 per hour in 9 annual steps. Salary placement is based on relevant experience.
Schedule
4 hours/day; 5 days/week (12-month work year).
