About the role

The Baker is responsible for performing duties as directed by the Bakery Manager and/or Assistant Bakery Manager for the successful operation of the Bakery Department. You will present yourself in a professional and courteous manner at all times while maintaining our high standards of Customer Service. Other duties may be assigned based on business volume and supervisor discretion.

Responsibilities

• Competent knowledge of Essential Functions of Baker Apprentice, Cake Decorator, and Wrapper positions
• Prepare dough for oven
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of bakery case, prep area, floors, coolers, and work area
• Inspect equipment to ensure specific operational performance and preventative maintenance of all bakery equipment
• Assist in finishing and filling donuts, pastries, pies, and cakes as required
• Apply food preparation procedures and techniques
• Cooperate with other departments during inter-departmental or store-wide sales promotions
• Maintain freezer and stock incoming products
• Be present at your workstation at the start of your shift
• Comply fully with all safety policies and procedures
• Adhere to Customer Service Pledge at all times
• Maintain a neat, professional appearance and strictly adhere to the Dress Code policy
• Ensure attendance is consistent to support overall department function
• Comply with all policies contained within the Employee Handbook

Requirements

• Ability to hear, speak, and understand the spoken word
• Ability to read, write, analyze, and interpret the English language with sufficient proficiency
• Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and taste or smell
• Regularly required to stand and use full hand and digit functions, reach with hands and arms, and manipulate objects
• Specific vision abilities including close vision, distant vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus
• One year of Bakery Apprentice (or related field) experience
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Ability to calculate figures, amounts, discounts, and percentages
• Ability to lift, bend, and twist with up to 50 pounds
