About the role
Dispatcher position in Charlevoix, Cheboygan and Emmet County.
Responsibilities
- Answer all incoming 911 calls
- Track personnel, reports, addresses, mapping, and more using Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD)
- Affirmatively assist Law Enforcement in their day-to-day operations
- Enter and maintain warrants, PPOs, court orders, and probation orders
- Maintain LEIN bulletins for local and state agencies
- Monitor and respond to radio traffic for public safety agencies
- Monitor weather-related information and make decisions based on it
- Provide emergency medical dispatching services
- Complete four structured phases of training including observation, computer aided dispatch, 911 call taking, and advanced dispatch training
- Pass all tests and certifications required for the position
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver's license
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Ability to pass a criminal background check, background investigation, psychological evaluation, and physical exam
- Proficiency in typing at 30 words per minute or higher
Qualifications
- Fluency in additional languages (optional)

Schedule
- 24-hour operation with 12-hour shifts
- Shifts and schedules are granted by seniority
- Required overtime may be ordered/forced
- Typical shift times: Day: 7 a.m. – 7 p.m., Night: 7 p.m. – 7 a.m.
