About the role

Food and food-service delivery drivers fulfill a critical role in the country’s food supply chain. Our delivery drivers ensure customers’ products arrive at their destination at the arranged times and in good condition. They also serve as the face of our company, building lasting relationships with customers.

Responsibilities

• Drive a tractor-trailer or straight truck on intrastate and interstate local, overnight, and dedicated routes to deliver and/or unload food and food-related products to customers safely and on time, in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
• Communicate professionally with customers, vendors, and co-workers to answer questions accurately and promptly.
• Perform all required pre- and post-trip safety checks, including inspections of tractor/truck and trailer per DOT regulations and company safety standards; report any safety issues or needed repairs.
• Follow all DOT regulations and company safe-driving guidelines; immediately report any safety hazards.
• Inspect trailers for properly loaded and secured freight; perform count checks and verify customer invoices.
• Complete all required paperwork accurately and legibly.
• Move tractor to loading dock and attach preloaded trailers as needed.
• Deliver customer orders according to predetermined route schedules; unload products and transport items into designated customer storage areas.
• Perform damage-control checks, scan items, and contact supervisor about removing orders per company policy.
• Verify delivery of items with customer and obtain proper signatures; collect money (cash or checks) where required.
• Load customer returns onto trailer and secure trailer doors; ensure tractor, trailer, and freight are always appropriately locked and secured.
• Unload damaged goods and customer returns at driver check-in and complete necessary paperwork.
• Unload all equipment and materials, remove trash from trailers, and perform general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area, and trailers.
• Complete daily record of hours of service and enter logs in accordance with federal DOT, state, and company requirements.
• At shift end, secure all equipment and complete all necessary paperwork.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Shuttle Driver specifics

• Transport empty trailers to Operating Company warehouse locations, then deliver full trailers to domicile/shuttle yard locations.
• Drive tandem trailers, tractor-trailers, and/or straight trucks on intrastate and interstate routes in a safe and timely manner per DOT regulations.

Pay

• CDL A Delivery Driver: $75,000–$85,000 per year; requires 1 overnight per week.
• CDL A Shuttle Driver: Approximately $300 per day, with annual earning potential of around $78,000.

Schedule

• Delivery Driver: Monday–Friday; dispatch between 4am–6am.
• Shuttle Driver: Sunday–Thursday; dispatch between 9pm–11pm.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
• Valid CDL-A license.
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable).
• Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past 3 years.
• Pass post-offer drug test, criminal background check, and road test.
• Attain or hold a valid current DOT Health Card or be able to secure a new one.
• Able to hand-lift and use a two-wheeler, lift gate, or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight (10–90 pounds) throughout the shift.
• Doubles endorsement required for Shuttle Driver.
