About the Role

Food and food-service delivery drivers fulfill a critical role in the country’s food supply chain. Our delivery drivers ensure customers’ products arrive at their destination on time and in good condition, while also serving as the face of our company—building lasting relationships with customers.

Responsibilities

• Drive a tractor-trailer or straight truck on intrastate and interstate local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight/drive-and-drop routes to deliver and/or unload food and food-related products to customers safely and on time, in accordance with DOT regulations.
• Communicate and interact professionally with customers, vendors, and coworkers to answer questions accurately and promptly.
• Perform all required safety checks (pre/post-trip), including inspections of tractor/truck and trailer per DOT regulations and company safety standards; report safety issues or needed repairs.
• Follow all DOT regulations and company safe-driving guidelines; immediately report safety hazards.
• Inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight; perform count checks and verify customer invoices.
• Complete all required paperwork accurately and legibly.
• Deliver customer orders according to predetermined route schedules; unload products and transport items into designated storage areas.
• Perform damage control checks, scan items, and contact supervisor about removing orders per company policy.
• Verify delivery of items with customers and obtain proper signatures; collect money (cash or checks) where required.
• Load customer returns onto trailer and secure trailer doors; ensure tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked/secured.
• Unload damaged goods and customer returns; complete necessary paperwork.
• Complete daily records of hours of service and enter logs in accordance with federal, state, and company requirements.
• Perform general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area, and trailers; keep trailers clean and clear.
• Secure all equipment and complete all necessary paperwork at the end of the shift.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Valid CDL-A license
• Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable)
• Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past 3 years
• Pass post-offer drug test and criminal background check
• Pass road test
• Valid/current DOT health card or ability to secure one
• Able to hand-lift and use equipment (two-wheeler, lift gate, etc.) to move/stack product cases/freight ranging from 10–90 pounds throughout the shift
