DOW Skillbridge Program - Crane Technician
About the role
The Manitowoc DOW Skillbridge Program (CraneBridge) provides military service members within 180 days of separation from military service with top-tier training to become Shop or Crane Technicians at Manitowoc. This is an unpaid training program through the Department of War (DoW) SkillBridge Program.
Requirements
- Must be an Active-Duty Service Member within 180-days of your separation date.
- Must obtain unit commander written authorization and approval to participate in DoD Skillbridge Program prior to start of the program.
- Must meet minimum qualifications based on the job description of the role you accept.
Qualifications
- A High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
- Experience as a general laborer or yard worker within the construction or heavy equipment area is preferred.
- A mechanical background and related experience with electrical and hydraulics is preferred.
- Must be a self-starter with the initiative to advance.
- The ability and deserve to provide excellent customer service is essential.
- Must possess a valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
Job Overview
Crane Technicians can be categorized as Field Technicians or Shop Technicians. They are responsible for the inspection, diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of various crane equipment including mobile cranes and boom trucks. The in-person training program is 20 weeks long and includes training by master crane instructors and technicians. You will learn about our cranes, including terminology, technology, setup, operation, and schematics.
