About the Role
A Dumpling Trainee prepares, assembles, folds, and steams dumplings for guests in a show kitchen, maintaining a tidy and professional appearance.
Your journey at Din Tai Fung begins as a Dumpling Trainee. The hands-on training program equips you with the skills needed for success. Upon completion, you’ll transition to a Dumpling Prep role with a competitive hourly wage increase.
Responsibilities
- Prepares, measures, and cuts dough
- Rolls dumpling/bun skins
- Stuffs, closes, and arranges dumplings/buns in a steamer
- Adds meat and allergen identifiers
- Steams dumplings/buns
- Maintains a clean working space and dumpling room
- Labels all items in accordance with regulations and procedures
- Attends monthly staff and dumpling meetings
Supporting Functions
- Keeps all kitchen areas clean and sanitized
- Organizes items within walk-in coolers and freezers
- Lifts/moves boxes, bags, chairs, and tables (up to 50 pounds)
- Assists with regular deep cleaning of the kitchen
- Maintains confidentiality regarding proprietary information, including recipes and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Requirements
- Friendly, energetic, and highly motivated individuals who thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Dumpling experience not required; prep experience (e.g., pastry, pizza dough) is a plus
- Open availability
- Eagerness to learn and embrace challenges
- Ability to stand for long periods
- Must be at least 18 years old and legally authorized to work in the U.S.
