Join our team to assist and prepare ~200,000 servicemembers who separate annually from the United States Military begin a new life chapter as a civilian. The Department of Labor (DOL) Veterans’ Employment and Training Service (VETS) program requires contractor services to support these transitioning Servicemembers through its highly successful Transition Assistance Program (TAP) offered worldwide. Our team ensures servicemembers and their families have the necessary career tools and information to seamlessly transition into the civilian workforce.

About the role

The DOL VETS TAP program needs skilled and compassionate Employment Navigators who can assist military personnel in their transition to civilian occupations and provide individual counseling on the job search process. Employment Navigators assess transitioning Servicemembers and/or spouses’ acquired skills via provided tools/software, assist with career exploration, and translate military experience into terms desired by future employers. The role supports program utilization through proactive marketing and outreach efforts, including presentations, informational tabling, networking activities, and relationship development. The Employment Navigator supports the Employment Navigator and Partnership Program (ENPP) and reports to a Regional Manager.

This position is an in-office, client-facing role with set office hours.

Responsibilities

  • Listen to Servicemembers/spouses, analyze their expressed needs, suggest solutions, and assist with refinement of career action plans.
  • Provide job search guidance, career advice, and ensure access to available employment-related resources.
  • Offer labor market information, identify companies and industries in specific areas, capture required skills and experience, and advise on job applications.
  • Assist clients in identifying necessary credentials and developing a path to fill qualification gaps through credentialing.
  • Assist individuals with Career Readiness Standards (CRS) verification and serve as the DOL initial point of contact for warm handovers.
  • Provide partnership overview services and connect transitioning Servicemembers and/or spouses to DOL-approved government and non-government partners, as well as American Job Centers/State Workforce Agencies.
  • Provide resume and cover letter advice.
  • Offer general information on apprenticeships, describe Registered Apprenticeship Programs and their benefits, and guide clients through tools for researching apprenticeship opportunities.
  • Promote services using approved messages and materials to enhance program awareness and conduct ongoing marketing and outreach to potential clients.

Requirements

  • A High School Diploma and 4 years of experience in Workforce Solutions, Workforce Development, Career Counseling, Human Resources (HR), or related fields such as employment, vocational, guidance, placement, rehabilitation, or educational counseling; or an Associate’s degree.
  • Knowledge of the civilian workplace, translating military skills/language, assessing the job market, and researching/interpreting job requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and virtual meeting platforms.
  • Ability to work effectively with the Military community.
  • Strong coordination, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience speaking in front of groups and engaging audiences.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree (desired but not required).

The salary range for this position is provided at the top of the posting and varies based on factors such as scope of the role, relevant experience, job-related knowledge, education, training, key skills, and geographic market considerations. Eligible positions may also include annual bonuses or long-term incentive opportunities. Program availability may vary based on contract type, location, hire date, and applicable collective bargaining agreements.
